Clinic Aftercare Instructions

After Surgery:

  • There is a small, green, linear tattoo next to the incision (females)to indicate that she has been spayed
  • Give a small amounts of food and water tonight
  • Your pet may act sedate, hyper, or just not himself this evening. Either can be normal. If your pet is acting oddly, please
    confine in a quiet, dark area, for his own protection, until the anesthesia wears off a bit more
  • Please keep your pet as quiet as possible
    • Dogs-leash walk only 10 days. Cats – indoors only 10 days
    • No roughhousing or interacting with other pets 10 days
    • No bathing or swimming 10 days
  • There are no external stitches to be removed. They are under the skin and dissolve on their own
  • Do not allow your pet to lick the surgical site. If he/she persists please use an Elizabethan collar (cone) on your pet
  • If the incision looks red, swollen, has discharge, please text this number: 315-730-3934
  • If your pet is lethargic, not eating or drinking, or you have any other concerns, please text 315-730-3934. We are happy to see
    surgical rechecks at no charge
  • If further treatment is necessary , a fee may apply. If you your pet is seriously ill or cannot be seen by us in a timely manner,
    we may advise you to take your pet to your regular veterinarian AT YOUR OWN EXPPENSE
  • Your pet has received THREE different types of pain medication today. All work differently and synergistically to give excellent
    pain control. 99% of pets are adequately covered with this pain control protocol. That said, some pets do seem painful to owners
    post-op. Please text me if you feel your pet is painful-I will call in meds for you to pick up at your pharmacy. UNDER NO
    CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU GIVE YOUR PET OTC OR SOMEONE ELSE’S rx MEDS
